According to a report by Ministry of Communication and Information Technology’s Public Relation department, in the second day of this forum held in the Community Hall of France Post Company, topics such as e-commerce and it achievements for post sector, digital economy, financial post services and Big Data were discussed by postal managing directors of attending countries.
Based on this report, at the sidelines of this forum, Mr. Eng. Mehri, Chairman of the Board and Managing Director of Iran Post, accompanied by Mr. Karami General Director of International Post Affairs Office, continued their meetings with high-ranking officials and managing directors of post departments of UPU member countries.
Mr. Eng. Mehri, in his meeting with Kenan Bozgeyik, Chairman of the Board and Director General, Turkish PTT Corporation, referred to the signing of a cooperation agreement between the postal departments of both countries in presence of Iran and Turkey’s Communication Ministers, emphasizing once again on the readiness of the I.R. of Iran’s Post Co. for implementation of the agreement contents.
Bozgeyik also underscored the topics under discussion, expressing that: “The 26th Universal Postal Congress will be a suitable opportunity to further discuss these subjects in detail.”
He offered an encouraging promise that those topics will be pursued at the sidelines of the forum sessions. The parties also emphasized on supporting their mutual viewpoints in this meeting.
Based on this report, meeting Masahiko Metoki, member of the Board of Directors of Japan Post, and candidate for chairmanship of the Post Utilization Council was another one of Mr. Mehri’s agendas for this trip.
He referred to suitable relations between the post departments of the two countries and the suitable level of postal interactions, expressing that: “Iran and Japan, as two principal members of Asian-Oceanic Postal Union, have a positive role in development and strengthening of postal collaborations in the region.”
Metoki expressed pleasure at the holding of Asian-Oceanic Postal Union 2017 Congress in Tehran, and hoped that regional countries will attend at highest level in consideration of the Assembly’s endorsements.
He mentioned the successful organizing and holding of Tehran 2000 Congress, emphasizing that the 2017 assembly hopefully will also be a successful event. The parties also underscored the importance of backing each other in the elections for various union councils.
Mr. Mehri also had a meeting with Boyapati Venkat Sudhakar, Chairman of the Postal Services Board, Government of India.
In this meeting, Sudhakar emphasized on developing postal relations and cooperation. Other topics of their discussions and agreements included Tehran 2017 Congress and the candidacy of both parties in union councils’ elections.
Appearing as one of the panelists of UPU World CEO Forum in Paris, he emphasized on development of postal relations and cooperation in his meeting with Mehri.
Developing postal relations and supporting the common standpoints of both countries in the upcoming congress were also among the major topics discussed by Managing Director of Iran Post in his continued meetings with Postal CEO’s of Australia, Switzerland, Jordan, Gabon, and Djibouti.
Next, Mr. Eng. Mehri had a meeting with Abdullah Bosto, Technology and Operations Director of UPU.
Bosto stated during this meeting that considering the undergoing follow-ups and the removal of economic and financial sanctions against I.R. of Iran, the Universal Postal Union is ready to dispatch a delegation of its advisors consisting of financial and legal experts of UPU, for implementation of international financial post service, upon the request of Iran.
He emphasized on the importance of financial post in the development of e-commerce, promising to do his outmost for revitalization of this essential service in Iran.
Re-establishment of international postal pay services was once again discussed in these talks.
