Iran, Russia and Azerbaijan Tripartite Collaboration

Dr. Vaezi, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, and the Iranian co-Chairman of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission of Iran and Azerbaijan, who has accompanied Dr. Rouhani on his visit to Baku, hold a meeting with the Azeri Minister of Communication and New Technologies, underscoring Iran’s favorable state of affairs for tripartite cooperation in ICT, Post, and e-Commerce sectors.

According to a report by the Ministry’s Public Relation, during this meeting, the parties emphasized on development of communication cooperation between Iran and Azerbaijan, collaborating to solve frequency interference problems at the border regions, research and development in the ICT sector, and postal services.

In this meeting, Dr. Vaezi referred to the fact that Iran’s Post is among the very first nations to join the Universal Post Union, stating that: “Iran enjoys great postal capacities in regard to commercial post and new postal services, and is fully prepared to share its experiences and cooperate in various postal areas.”

He added: “Iran is ready to help the commencement of Azerbaijan’s Financial Post Service.”

Dr. Vaezi referred to the geographical position of Iran in this regard and also some of the special infrastructural post facilities in the country which enables Iran to handle the shipping and delivery of postal packages for the countries of the region, stating that: “Iran Post Co. possess exclusive infrastructural facilities like Payam Airport, which considering the objectives of the ICT Ministry in the future development program and the ongoing efforts for turning Iran into Postal Hub of the region, enables the possibility for swift delivery of packages and parcels in the shortest time for Iran Post Co., in view of the shared borders and the closeness of Iran to many neighboring countries like Russia and Azerbaijan.”

The Communication Minister continued by mentioning other capacities of the post services of Iran, saying: “Our post has accomplished a great many things in regard to e-Post and post logistics, and is currently finalizing the International transactions of e-Commerce, enjoying a unique position for tripartite cooperation between Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan by having its own specialized Executive Bank in this era.”

Vaezi concluded by asking for tripartite cooperation between Iran, Russia, and Azerbaijan in every sector of ICT, inviting his Azeri counterpart for an official visit to Iran.
