According to PR department of the ICT Ministry, Dr. Vaezi, the Iranian Minister of Communication and Information Technology met this Friday with Mr. Miao Wei, the Minister of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China, saying that: “This is my second meeting with my Chinese counterpart, which took place during the visit of China’s President to Tehran.”
He described the objectives of this meeting as policy making, supporting and supervising the activities of Iranian and Chinese companies, and added that: “We intend to pursue our bilateral cooperation in the fields of ICT and Satellite technology.”
Vaezi referred to the strengthening of cooperation with Chinese companies in the field of ICT following the finalization of the nuclear agreement, and said: “Joint efforts with China in specialized and technical topics are on the agenda.”
Stating that the Chinese President’s visit to Iran is going to open a new chapter in the relations of two countries, he further elaborated that: “God willing, tomorrow we are going to sign a joint cooperation agreement in the ICT sector with the Chinese Communication Minister.”
The Iranian Communication Minister stressed on the expansion of relations between two countries in the post sanctions area, and included: “A joint committee is going to be established to follow-up on the agreements and negotiations of two countries.”
He underscored the necessity of the transfer of technology accompanied by technical know-how between the two countries, stating that: “Cooperation in the fields of optic-fiber, software, and infrastructure were among the key topics of this session.”
Vaezi emphasized on the importance of attracting investment in the ICT sector, and benefitting from the line of credit provided by China for Iran, and included: “We are making efforts to attract other new companies to our market, in addition to the Chinese companies who were by our side during the sanctions area.”
At the sidelines of this meeting, which were attended by deputies and presidents of private companies active in ICT sector in Iran and China, a cooperation agreement was signed between the General Manager of International Affairs and Strategic Studies of the ICT Ministry on one side and Huawei Company on the other.
