Vaezi Reports of Iran-Armenia ICT Cooperation

In a meeting with the New Armenian ambassador to Iran, the Communication Minister underlined developing relations with neighbor countries as the main policy of the 11th government, stressing on development of cooperation between Iran and Armenia in the ICT sector.

As the ICT’s Public Relation center reports, in this meeting, Dr. Vaezi referred to the favorable relations between Iran and Armenia, underscoring Iran’s geographical position for Armenia’s access to the Persian Gulf, also mentioning optic-fiber communications and bandwidth transit as fields for bilateral cooperation.

Stating the experiences of the communication Ministry in the ICT sector, he also expressed Iran’s readiness for cooperating in areas such as space technology, software, hardware, internet security, research and development, and transfer of experiences.

The ICT Minister emphasized the initiation of bandwidth transit between Iraq, Iran, and Armenia as an opportunity for developing tripartite cooperation, asserting Iran’s readiness for cooperating with other regional nations.

In this meeting, Dr. Vaezi also mentioned the potentials and capabilities of Iran’s private sector in the ICT industry, asking for joint investment of both countries in this field, and expressed his support for development of bilateral relations between two ministries in every possible area in ICT.

Artashes Tumanyan, the new Ambassador of Armenia in Tehran, also emphasized on developing bilateral relations and technical cooperation in the field of ICT.
