A number of Iranian and foreign state and executive officials will attend a seminar on ‘Woman’s Empowerment through ICT’ to be hosted by Tehran on July 29, concurrent with the holding (July 28-31) of the 24th Iran International Electronic, Computer & E-Commerce Exhibition (ELECOMP 2018) in the Iranian capital.
Among the participants in the seminar will also be a number of international and domestic experts in the fields of women and family affairs and information and communications technology (ICT).
Co-organized by the Iranian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the seminar is aimed at raising public awareness and improving the level of domestic and foreign trade exchanges.
In addition to a number of foreign ambassadors to Iran who has already expressed their willingness to attend the seminar, a number of top foreign officials, including Azerbaijani Minister of Transport, Communications and High Technologies Ramin Guluzadeh, South African Communications Minister Nomvula Mokonyane and Indonesian Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection Minister Yohana Susana Yembise, have also, so far, declared readiness to participate in the conference.
The desired visions pursued by the co-organizers of the seminar is to prepare the ground for achieving gender justice through ICT and foster joint international collaborations in the field of women empowerment within the framework of Iran’s laws and policies.
The Iranian Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran have, so far, made all-out efforts to use the capacities of the ICT field to empower women and girls.
In addition, among the objectives and themes of the seminar are exchanging ideas and using specialized knowledge and experiences of the participating countries’ state and executive officials as well as international and domestic experts in the fields of women and family and ICT to: Achieve gender justice through ICT, empower women and girls through ICT, gain familiarity with the capacities and potentials of joint technological collaborations in international arenas, prepare the ground for women’s employment and entrepreneurship based on and by using the capacities of ICT in international arenas, illustrate and present an example of an entrepreneur Iranian Muslim women and exchange experiences.
Moreover, a number of panels on topics such as ‘The role of governments in women’s empowerment through ICT’ and ‘Exploring the Dimensions of Women’s Empowerment’ will be held during this international event, which will be attended by state and executive officials of the participating countries as well as domestic and international experts.
Empowering women is among the most important ways and solutions to accelerate development in developing countries.
The holding of this seminar, aimed at raising and expanding women’s awareness and knowledge of how to use information and communications technologies, concurrent with ELECOMP 2018 will provide a suitable opportunity for exchanging experiences, promoting innovation as well as comparing and discussing the moves and measures made and taken so far to empower women and girls through ICT. The event will also afford an opportunity to use the views and opinions of international and domestic experts and to indigenize such experiences in the country.
The seminar will be held at Shahid Qandi hall in Tehran.
