Minister of ICT announced: Iran is determined to be candidate for membership in ITU Council
Iran announced its decision due to be candidate for gaining member seat of ITU Council.
PR of the Ministry of ICT– Dr. Reza Taghipour in a meeting with the other ambassadors from 46 countries of the world said: “Also the other goal of Iran in International area of ICT is introducing a high expert in radio regulations for being member of RPB”.
He pointed that Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to develop ICT area by utilizing domestic experts’ abilities and positive interaction with the other countries.
Minister of ICT referred to ITU and restated: “This year the world celebrates World Telecommunication and Information Society Day under the name of “Better City with ICT”. Reaching to this point will be realized by a correct and effective communication between all countries”.
He continued: “In Iran the main goal is developing ICT to the rural areas and promoting these kinds of services all over the country therefore in spite of 9thousand and 829 villages, 17 thousands schools enjoy this priceless service”.
Dr. Reza Taghipour explained the abilities and the last consequences of Iran in ICT area and said: “Currently penetration rate of fixed line is 100 percent in Iran. Penetration rate of mobile phone is 72 percent and it means about 53 million persons by five operators”.
He referred to the implemented attempts in Data Communication area and said: “Currently Internet bandwidth is more than 21Gbps so Internet users are about 24 million and 500 thousands. The height of fiber optic of cross-country network is 45 thousand Km and the height of fiber optic in different cities is 80thousand Km”.
He talked about earth fiber optic of neighborhood countries and explained: “Currently the connection between Asian and European countries has been established by TAE. Also International communication of Iran has been established between Jask-Fojeireh through Azerbaijan, Kuwait and UAE”.
He referred to implementation of School Connection to Internet Network project and added: “Now 17 thousand schools have been connected to National Internet Network and it will be reached to 100 thousands up to 1392.
He pointed that offering 17percent of all lessons electronically and lunching IT laboratory for 500 schools in pilot are the other implemented programs of this area.
Minister of ICT explained about the offering services in rural ICT offices and said: “These offices established to offer online services in the villages, implementation of e-government in the country and also decrease digital gap”.
He emphasized: “Now all kinds of e-services offer in rural ICT offices such as post, Internet, bill payment, e-banking, e-shopping”.
