Iran, Armenia Discuss IT Cooperation
Dr. Vaezi held a meeting with Gagik Beglaryan, the Armenian Minister of Transport and Communications, on the sideline of the WSIS 2016 forum in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Communication Ministry’s Public Relation reports that in this meeting, the ICT Minister underscored Iran’s capacities in the communication and information technology sector, expressing that: “The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to cooperate with Armenia for expanding relations and cooperating in ICT sector.”

Vaezi emphasized on Iran’s potentials in this area, stating that: “Iran and Armenia can share experiences in areas such as cyber security, research and development, manufacturing communication and telecom equipment, and IT and ICT software and hardware development.”

He commented favorably in regard to international traffic exchange between the two countries, which was recently developed and established during bilateral relations, stating that: “Under these conditions we can lower international tariffs of phone communication for Iranian and Armenian citizens.”

The Iranian Communication Minister referred to other areas of potential cooperation between Iran and Armenia, saying: “Post and Post-Bank services are areas where we can cooperate for expanding relations.”

At this meeting, the Armenian Communication Minister expressed his pleasure for meeting Dr. Vaezi, and the bilateral cooperation with Iran, officially inviting the ICT Minister for a visit to Yerevan.
