Dr. Vaezi, the Iranian Minister of Communication and Information Technology who has travelled to Geneva, Switzerland to participate in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) 2016, has met with his Russian counterpart, Nikolay Nikiforov, at the sideline of the forum.
Based on PR department’s report, in this meeting, our Communication Minister highlighted the capacities created in the communication and information technology sector of Iran, stating that: “Iran is prepared to expand the level of bilateral cooperation in the field of communication and information technology with the Russian Republic.”
The ICT Minister included that: “Iran and Russia can collaborate in areas such as cyber security, research and development, communication and telecommunication equipment manufacturing, software development, and peaceful usage of space technology in telecomm sector.”
Vaezi further emphasized the excellent political and economic relations between the two countries, saying that: “These collaborations can also expand to hi-tech and communication and telecomm technology sector.”
The Russian Communication Minister emphasized in his turn on extending cooperation with Iran in regard to internet, cyber space, network security, holding seminars and conferences, participating in international societies, and cooperating in the legal sector of ICT.
