Dr. Mahmoud Vaezi, the Iranian Minister of Communication and Information Technology had a meeting last Friday with the Minister of Foreign affairs of the Azerbaijan Republic, Elmar Mammadyarov.
According to the Public Relation department of ICT, Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his pleasure for the continuing expansion of bilateral relations, emphasized on the importance of the recent visit of Ilham Aliyev, the Azeri President to Tehran, and the meetings, negotiations and signed agreements during that trip, for further development of Iran-Azeri relations.
He also expressed his gratitude over Iran’s just and firm stance in regard to the solution of the Karabakh entanglement.
In this meeting, Mr. Mammadyarov referred to the developing relations within the framework of the Azerbaijan-Iran-Turkey’s and also Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia’s tripartite cooperation, emphasizing the tripartite meetings of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan-Iran-Turkey’s in Ramsar, and Azerbaijan-Iran-Russia’s in Baku.
He also mentioned the commencement of Iran-Azerbaijan’s Joint Border Bridge Project as an important element for completion of the North-South corridor, stressing on the importance of this program for increasing the transit capacity of the two countries.
Based on this report, The ICT Minister also emphasized on Iran’s interest in establishment of peace and stability in the region, referring to the growth and development of interactions between Intelligence entities of the two countries within the framework of international cooperation for fighting terrorism, extremism, and regional threats.
Vaezi further elaborated on the accomplished programs within the framework of the Joint Economic Commission, reporting of the further development of this cooperation in various economic areas, including transportation, oil and gas, agriculture, tourism, pharmaceuticals, heavy industry, and communication and information technology.
During this meeting, the parties exchanged their views and proposals regarding cooperation between various regions of the two countries, and also possible collaboration in the fields of energy, transport, trade and commerce and banking relations.
Mahmoud Vaezi, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, and the Co-chairman of Iran-Azerbaijan Joint Economics Cooperation Commission, also had a meeting on Wednesday with Ilham Aliyev, the President of Azerbaijan, during the ground-breaking ceremony of the Astara Bridge Project on the joint border.
The main agenda of this 3-day visit also included meeting and negotiating with the Prime Minister and the Economy, Agriculture, and Communication Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and participating in the signing ceremony of four cooperation agreements between Iran and Azerbaijan.
On this trip, Dr. Vaezi also received the Azeri ‘Friendship’ Order from Ilham Aliyev, for distinguished services rendered in his capacity as the Co-chairman of the Joint Economic Commission, and his efforts for expansion of Tehran-Baku relations and cooperation.
