The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has described the Iranian national team’s championship in the Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad for the third consecutive year as a manifestation of the scientific capabilities, talent, and perseverance of Iranian youth.
In a congratulatory message on Monday, he emphasized that the
achievement on the global stage goes beyond a scientific accomplishment and
demonstrates Iran’s capacity to continue its path of progress under difficult
circumstances.
Iran’s National Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad team
became world champion for the third consecutive year at the 19th International
Olympiad in Hanoi, Vietnam, winning five gold medals by Sarina Alampour,
Mohammad-Hossein Hosseini, Hirbod Foudazi, Hossein Masoumi, and Arshia
Mirshamsi Kakhki.
The competition was held with the participation of more than
320 students from more than 66 countries.

“In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most
Merciful
Dear students and proud members of Iran’s National Astronomy
and Astrophysics Olympiad Team,
Greetings and congratulations to you, the worthy children of
Iran.
Winning five valuable gold medals and securing the
championship title for Iran’s National Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad team
for the third consecutive time at the 19th International Olympiad is a great
honor for Iran and a brilliant manifestation of the scientific capabilities,
talent, and perseverance of the young people of this country.
However, this achievement deserves to be regarded with two
distinct forms of appreciation and pride.
The first is the repeated demonstration of the knowledge and
capabilities of Iranian youth. Competing against the world’s top scientific
talents, these young people have put their knowledge to the test and, through
their outstanding performance, have brought Iran’s name to the highest levels
of the global scientific arena. Behind these medals are years of effort by
students, families, coaches, and professors who have paved the way toward
knowledge and self-confidence.
The second source of pride and appreciation goes beyond a
scientific achievement. The remarkable participation and victory of Iranian
youth on the global stage—at a time when Iran is facing the difficult
circumstances of imposed wars, extensive pressures, and widespread
restrictions—send a clear message to the world: Iran, relying on knowledge, its
human capital, and the determination of its younger generation, continues to
stand resilient and strong and is moving forward on its path of progress.
Each of these young people’s medals is not merely a symbol of
an individual achievement; it is also a symbol of the capacity of a country
that can, even under the most difficult circumstances, transform knowledge and
hope into assets for the future. Today, this flag has been raised on the field
of science, and this achievement, above all, reminds us of the truth that the
dignity and resilience of a nation are manifested in the ability of its
children to build a better future.
I sincerely congratulate the distinguished students of the
National Astronomy and Astrophysics Olympiad team, their families, coaches,
professors, and everyone involved in this national achievement. I wish these
valuable national assets even greater horizons and greater successes in the
future.
Seyyed Sattar Hashemi
Minister of Information and Communications Technology”
