The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi called for accelerating the technology diplomacy, urging the ICT Ministry’s space agencies to foster foreign collaboration.
He made the remarks on Thursday at two separate weekly meetings
with directors of the ministry’s international and space departments.
At the meeting to review the performance of the Deputy for
Technology, Innovation and International Affairs, Hashemi reiterated the role
of technology diplomacy in advancing the country's objectives.
The ICT Minsters urged his colleagues to make use of
opportunities to expand international interactions, accelerate the
implementation of transformative programs, and strengthen the status of Iran in
international forums.
“It is necessary to design and implement a new path for
activating technology diplomacy so that existing capacities can be used more
effectively to develop international cooperation,” Hashemi stated.
“This field requires greater speed in implementation and
follow-up,” he added, “We must witness a tangible leap in international
interactions and partnerships.”
“It plays an important role in defending the rights of the
Iranian nation in international forums,” Hashemi noted.
And at the meeting with the telecommunications space
agencies, he said that the ICT Ministry’s space programs should be aligned with
the real needs of society.
Hashemi also stressed importance of foreign partnerships in
the development of satellite constellations.
"Space projects should be pursued with a focus on
creating added value and providing tangible services to the public."
"Activating economic capacities in the space sector is
one of the main priorities of the Government. The ground must be set for
delivering sustainable and high-quality services based on space technologies to
the public,” he added.
“Development of international cooperation and the use of the
capacity of foreign partnerships, especially in the field of satellite
constellations are important pillars of this sector's future plans,” the ICT
Minister noted.
