The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi said on Monday that the implementation process for smart government ecosystems will begin next month.
Presenting a report on the
implementation of obligations in the ICT sector under the Seventh Development
Plan, he also stated that some strategic projects in this field, including
fiber-optic network expansion, are progressing ahead of schedule.
Hashemi made the remarks in a
meeting with members of the parliamentary Council and Internal Affairs
Committee during which he presented a report on the ICT Ministry’s activities
and plans to de develop the communication infrastructure, smart government, and
implementation of the Seventh Development Plan.
Referring to the performance of
the communication network during the recent Israel-US war against Iran, he stated
that the resilience of communication infrastructure was the result of the
efforts of the ICT personnel.
“During this war, approximately
600 communication sites and centers were attacked, but despite these
conditions, no major disruption in the country's communications was reported.”
He also referred to the ICT
Ministry's obligations under the Seventh Development Plan, and added: A
significant portion of these obligations is being implemented according to schedule.
In some projects, including the development of the fiber-optic network,
progress has exceeded the planned targets.
“Resource limitations are among
the existing challenges affecting the implementation of some projects, but the planning
to overcome these obstacles and maintain the pace of development is underway.”
The ICT Minister also introduced
the performance of e-government services in the country and announced that a
record of one billion transactions was registered during the 40-day war period.
“The full realization of
e-government, due to its scale and complexity, requires innovative approaches,”
he added.
“Therefore, the ICT Ministry has
designed a smart government model consisting of 16 specialized ecosystems,
drawing on successful international experiences. The implementation of some of
these ecosystems will begin next month.
The ICT Minister also referred to
the ministry’s human capital development programs and said, “The Digital Iran
initiative is currently being implemented with the aim of familiarizing high
school students with emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.”
“The objective of the initiative
is to train skilled human resources and prepare future generations for
effective participation in content creation and the digital economy,” Hashemi told
the MPs.
