The Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has supported development of the ICT infrastructure to expand tourism services and boost employment in the rural areas.
He made the statement in a meeting with the Minister of Cultural
Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Seyed Reza Salehi-Amiri on Saturday during which
they discussed further cooperation between their ministries.
The ICT Minister presented a report on the measures adopted to
ensure the sustainability and resilience of Iran’s communication network and
services during the Israel-US military aggression.
He also appreciated the support of the private sector in maintaining
services and cooperation with the communication operators.
Hashemi termed communication the main infrastructure for
providing public services stating that more than one billion transactions were made
during 40 days of the imposed war.
“This is a sign of the continuity of the country's
communication infrastructure services despite the war,” he noted.
Data-driven governance
The ICT Minister called for avoiding isolated measures in the
field of technology and added: The development of data-driven governance
requires an integrated and centralized design.
He announced the increase in the country's data exchange
centers from one to three in different locations so that services continue to
be provided to the public without interruption even in critical conditions.
Draft MoU
Following Hashemi’s remarks, the deputies of the ICT Ministry
presented a report on the measures taken in areas related to cultural heritage,
tourism, and handicrafts and the development of rural communications.
These measures included establishing sustainable connections
in 50 tourism sites, providing connections to tourism villages, making cultural
heritage processes smart, and designing a national dashboard.
The report put forward suggestions on expanding bilateral cooperation
and resolving issues related to the development of communication at the tourism
attractions.
The two sides agreed to prepare a memorandum of understanding
to pursue issues of mutual interest and to develop cooperation between the ICT
and Tourism Ministries.
