The Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi said that despite the Israel-US attacks on 600 communication centers and sites, Iran managed to maintain its ICT services connectivity and stability.
He made the statement on Tuesday in a meeting with
members of the Parliament’s Article 90 Committee during which he elaborated on
the measures adopted by the ICT Ministry during 40 days of the imposed war
against Iran.
Hashemi praised the ICT Ministry’s employees for the round-the-clock
support and presented a report on the non-stop operation to maintain the
resilience and stability of the country's communication network during the war.
Referring to the hard conditions caused by the enemy's
continuous attacks and widespread population displacement, he stated: The
stability of the communication network during this period was the result of the
efforts and endeavors of all ICT stakeholders.
“During the imposed war, more than 500 communication
sites and 100 communication centers were attacked” he added.
“The damaged equipment was restored and returned to
service in the shortest possible time so that people did not feel the effects
of these destructions in communication services and the network did not suffer
from widespread outages.”
The ICT Minister also stressed the role of
infrastructure in providing public services in the country.
“The continuity of services such as fuel supply,
medicine, treatment, and distribution of goods depended on the stability of
communication networks and payment systems. Fortunately, there was no
significant disruption in these areas.”
Hashemi announced the setting of new records in the
provision of electronic services during the war and added: By establishing
support centers and distributing service capacity in several geographical
locations, the possibility of continuing to provide digital services was
provided even in critical conditions.
He further referred to the performance of the National
Post Company during the imposed war, and stated: Despite the increase in costs
and the decrease in operating revenues, all postal items were distributed in difficult
war conditions and no items were delayed.
The ICT Minister briefed the legislators on the rapid reconstruction
of communication facilities on the three southern islands of Iran after enemy
attacks.
“Communications equipment on these islands was damaged
several times, but each time they returned to a stable state in less than a few
hours.”
In another part of his report, Hahsemi referred to the
increasing pressure on domestic messengers infrastructure and said: By
allocating massive funds of the ICT Ministry and providing the necessary
equipment, disruptions and suspension of services on these platforms were
prevented.
