ICT, Labor Ministers back private sector’s role in digital ecosystem
The Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi and Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare Ahmad Midari stressed the role of private sector as the driving force behind the government's digital ecosystem.

They supported maximizing the capacity of the private sector, digital economy stakeholders, and smart public services in a meeting on Sunday during which the ICT and labor ministers reviewed implementation process of the Government Digital Ecosystems National Plan.

The ICT Minister referred to the launch of the first phase of the plan based on President Masoud Pezeshkian’s instructions.

“The design of the architecture of the government's digital ecosystems is underway, led by the Information Technology Organization of Iran and in cooperation with universities and the private sector,” Hashemi said.

He emphasized tapping the capacity of the private sector in implementation of plan, and said: The successful experiences show that role of the private sector in the development of digital services and moving within the boundaries of technology can be transformative.

Welcoming a competitive environment in the digital economy ecosystem, the ICT Minister added, “The active presence of various players in this ecosystem must be facilitated and any anti-competitive approach must be avoided.”

Hashemi reiterated using the capacity of operators and companies active in the field of ICT to develop the government's digital ecosystems.

“These capacities can play an effective role in facilitating the provision of smart services and developing the digital economy market,” he noted.

In the meeting, also the Minister of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare, called for continued cooperation between the two ministries, pointing out the importance of collaboration between government agencies in advancing major digital economy projects.

“Using the power of knowledge-based companies and digital economy stakeholders can accelerate the process of making public services smarter and provide the basis for improving the quality and accessibility of services for the people,” Midari said.

The two ministers agreed to continue expert-level meetings and strengthen cooperation to utilize existing capacities in the implementation of the national plan on Government Digital Ecosystems.
