The Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi said that resilience of the communication infrastructure and digital networks is one of the main components of the national authority.
He made the statement in a message on the occasion of the World
Telecommunication and Information Society Day on Sunday, in which he also
hailed the ICT Ministry’s staff for the country’s stable communication network during
the Israel-US aggression of Iran.
Hashemi’s message was read at the opening ceremony of the conference
Iran’s Stable Communication Arteries: The Epic of National Resilience During
the Third Imposed War held on 17-18 May in Tehran under the theme Digital Resilience
and Intelligent Response to Hybrid Crises and Threats.
The full text of the ICT Minister’s message is as follows:
“The World Telecommunication Day is a reminder of the
fundamental role of communications in the formation of human civilization and
the development of contemporary societies. This year, it is commemorated under the
slogan Resilience of Digital Arteries -- a slogan that more than ever
highlights the importance of communication infrastructure and digital networks
in maintaining the stability of countries and the security of societies.
Today, communication is not only a technological service; it
is also the backbone of governance, economy, education, health, security and
daily life of nations. Communication networks, data centers, optical fibers,
satellites and cloud systems are the digital lifelines on which the continuity
of the social and economic life of countries depends. In today’s interconnected
world, disruption in communications can create a chain of disruptions in vital
services, trade, relief and social cohesion; therefore, the resilience of
communication infrastructure has become one of the main components of national
authority.
The experience of the second and third imposed wars and the
difficult and complicated days that Iran went through once again showed how
vital the stability of communication networks is in maintaining public trust,
peace in society, crisis management, continuity of services, and strengthening
the bond between people and sovereignty.
During the second and third imposed wars, specialists,
managers, and employees of the country's ICT sector made an exemplary effort
with a jihadist spirit to maintain the stability and continuity of the
country's vital communications flow. Under the most difficult conditions, they
protected the continuity of reliable and secure services to the people by being
present in the field, quickly rebuilding network infrastructure, and continuing
intelligent management of communication traffic.
In the meantime, with the utmost respect and pride, we honor
the memory of the martyrs of the ICT sector and the country's digital economy
ecosystem. Our dear martyrs sacrificed their lives for the security, peace, and
progress of Islamic Iran in the path of maintaining the stability of vital
infrastructure and protecting people's communications. Undoubtedly, the names
and sacrifices of these unknown fighters in this field will remain in the
historical memory of Iran and will be a spiritual capital for the future of
this land.
Today, our mission is not only to develop technology but also
to create safe, resilient, and inclusive infrastructure for all Iranian people.
The future of the country depends on expanding a powerful national
communication network, developing the digital economy, improving cybersecurity,
investing in emerging technologies, and ensuring people’s fair access to
high-quality and sustainable internet. Technologies such as artificial
intelligence, cloud computing, big data, the Internet of Things, blockchain,
satellite communications, and quantum processing will not only be tools for
economic transformation, but also the foundations that will shape the digital
power of the future.
The Islamic Republic of Iran is determined to continue with
power the path of enhancing digital resilience and developing the country’s
communication and information technology infrastructure, relying on the
capabilities of domestic experts, the capacity of universities, the private
sector, and knowledge-based companies. Because sustainable, secure and
high-quality access to modern technologies is today a fundamental right for all
citizens and an undeniable necessity for national progress.
Finally, while congratulating all stakeholders, experts,
entrepreneurs, academics, managers and hardworking employees in the field of ICT
of the country on World Telecommunication Day, I sincerely appreciate their
efforts and valuable services and hope that with empathy, innovation and
continuous efforts, a brighter, smarter and more resilient future will be
achieved for our dear Iran. Hereby, I would like to announce the onset of the
World Telecommunication Day commemoration ceremony.
Sattar Hashemi
Minister of Information and Communication Technology”
