The Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi said that the stability of communication network was maintained despite damages to the ICT infrastructure during the Israel-US aggression of Iran.
In a meeting with the members of parliament from Tehran
Province on Tuesday, he stated that the Iranian people were the main winners of
the national solidarity.
This meeting reviewed performance of the ICT Ministry and the
way it provided services during the war.
Hashemi presented a report on the performance of the ICT Ministry,
referring to the measures taken to maintain the stability of the country's
communication network.
“The ICT Ministry had an active presence in the field,” he said,
“Its entire staff continued to provide services even on holidays.”
"The stability of communication was on the agenda from
the very beginning of war. Except for a limited disruption in the initial
minutes in Tehran, the country's communication network remained stable without
disruption."
ICT services maintained
He said that several civilian communication sites were targeted,
and added, “Users did not experience any problem in their daily life and
services continued to be provided without disruption thanks to the efforts of
the ICT Ministry.”
He also referred to the design of the network architecture
and the preventive measures, especially in the provinces hosting travelers and tourists.
"These measures, along with managing the conditions of
destruction of some sites, ensured the stability of communication throughout
the country."
Record traffic
The ICT Minister also appreciated the cooperation between the
government and the private sector and said, “By sharing resources, nearly one
billion transactions were recorded in 40 days of war.”
“Despite the high pressure on the network, electronic
services, including banking, education, and health, were provided without
disruption,” he added, “In the limited cases of disruption, the problems were
managed in the shortest possible time to maintain the stability of services.”
Supporting domestic platforms
Hashemi further briefed the MPs on the support provided to
the domestic platforms.
‘With the measures taken, these platforms were able to
continue providing services without a slowdown or disruption.”
Emphasizing that the stability of the communication network
is the result of years of efforts in developing infrastructure, he stated: The
performance in this area should be evaluated based on the set of measures taken
over time.
People main winners
The ICT Minister hailed the support of people and said, “People
stood by the country's communication system with maximum support and are the
main winners of this field.”
In the meeting, representatives of Tehran province expressed
their views, demands, and questions, while appreciating the measures taken in
the field of communication.
The parliamentarians raised issues including cyberspace
security, completing the national information network, localizing
infrastructure equipment, supporting domestic platforms, professional internet,
and cyber threats, which were responded by the minister and his deputies.
