The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has praised the role of Iranian people in the country’s victory over the Israeli-US aggression, saying the ICT Ministry’s responsibility to provide better services has increased.
He made the remarks in a meeting of the council of deputy
ministers on Saturday in which he also appreciated the efforts of the ICT Ministry’s
staff during the 40 days of war.
“Sustained communications services were the result of
collective endeavors, and people's support during the war has doubled the
responsibility of managers to continue providing quality and sustainable services.”
Hashemi condoled martyrdom of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed
Ali Khamenei, commanders, scientists and civilians and described them as the
country’ great assets whose contributions shall be remembered with honor.
Stating that the management of the complex conditions of the
war was achieved by relying on the efforts of the entire countrymen, he added: "The
establish sustained communications appears easy, but in practice it is a
complex and multi-layered process that would not have been possible without the
round-the-clock efforts of the ICT employees.”
ICT backbone of vital services
The ICT minister also referred to the key role of
communications infrastructure in managing the country in times of crisis.
“If the communications networks were not sustainable, the
provision of vital services in the fields of banking, healthcare, education,
public communications, and the like through local platforms and even the
management of the psychological conditions of the society would have faced
serious disruption.”
He continued appreciating the relentless efforts of the ICT Ministry’s
employees and stated: "During the war, our colleagues sincerely focused
all their attention on serving the people, and their low media presence
reflects this spirit to serve the people
anonymously."
“The reports presented in today’s meeting showed that the
ministry's staff, in addition to their expertise and commitment, contributed
with all their might and even their lives to the sustainability of the networks,”
he added.
People real winners of battlefield
Hashemi reiterated the role of people in overcoming war
conditions, and said: “The real winners of this field were the noble people of
Iran, who despite all the shortcomings and limitations, showed unparalleled
support which makes our responsibility for accountability and service delivery
heavier.”
He instructed the senior managers to be present in the field.
“In addition to accelerating decision-making and more accurate management of
administrative affairs, being present on the scene encourages our colleagues in
the ministry.”
Significance of human capital
Hashemi termed human capital the greatest asset of the ICT Ministry
and stated: “Taking care of the livelihood of colleagues is a duty, and their
efforts and sacrifices should not go unanswered.”
He appreciated the measures taken in the field of livelihood
support for employees, including the distribution of support packages during
the holy month of Ramadan and Nowruz, calling these measures a valuable step
towards respecting human capital.
Stable network dependent on global communications
The ICT Minister also referred to the performance of the domestic
communications network during the period of international Internet
restrictions, and said: “Despite the restrictions imposed based on security
considerations and at the request of the authorities, this network did not stop
at any moment and was able to provide the services needed by the people.”
“Of course, the idea that the domestic communications network
can completely replace the international Internet is not an accurate and
correct perception, and this network requires interaction with the global
Internet to fully respond to the needs of the country,” he said.
Hashemi concluded emphasizing the ICT Ministry’s strategy to provide
high-quality and stable Internet for all people, saying, “all capacities must
be used in this direction”.
