The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi emphasized strengthening the resilience of digital infrastructure and the use of scientific capacity of universities to respond to the country's urgent needs.
He made the remarks in a meeting on Monday with the Minister
of Science, Research and Technology Hossein Simaei-Sarraf during which Hashemi
said that the two ministries can cooperate in the fields of cybersecurity and
crisis management.
The ministers focused on the development of technological
infrastructure of universities and on strengthening the role of academic
centers in the digital economy.
"In the current situation, the enemy is in a desperate
situation and for this reason has resorted to shameless behavior. Targeting
universities and educational centers shows the destructive and anti-development
nature of the enemies,” Hashemi said.
Referring to the fact that more than a month has passed since
the beginning of the Israeli-US aggression of Iran, he stated, “At this point,
improving the resilience of communication and digital infrastructure is one of
the main priorities.”
“Universities can play an effective role in supporting
communications networks and in providing innovative solutions by relying on
their scientific and technological capacities,” the ICT minister added.
He also reiterated the cooperation between executive and
scientific institutions and said, “In war conditions, the time for
decision-making and implementation is significantly reduced, and this makes
structured cooperation with universities a necessity.”
“Utilizing academic capacity in areas such as cybersecurity,
crisis management, and the development of sustainable digital services allows
for a faster response to the country's needs,” Hashemi noted.
In the meeting, Simaei-Sarraf stressed a development-oriented
perspective in the current situation.
“The country's progress requires an approach based on growth
and innovation, and in the face of war conditions, the areas for scientific and
technological leaps must be strengthened with an active and forward-looking
perspective,” said the minister of science, research and technology.
“The preparations have been made to mobilize the scientific
and technological capabilities of universities so that these centers can play a
more effective role in providing services during and after the war, especially
in areas related to communications and information technology,” he added.
The ministers emphasized the development of the digital
economy and the role of knowledge-based companies and technology units, and agreed
on increasing the scientific cooperation of their respective ministries.
