The Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi said that digital economy businesses will be supported in an integrated manner as the government will prevent isolated measures in this area.
Hashemi made the remarks in a meeting with digital economy stakeholders
on Sunday during which he described the measures taken by the ICT Ministry to minimize
the negative effects of the ongoing Israeli-US aggression against Iran.
“The ICT Ministry has tried to reduce communications
disruptions, although the complexities of the war conditions have caused certain
limitations,” he said.
He lauded the efforts of digital economy stakeholders in
maintaining the services during the war, and added, “The performance of digital
businesses in these circumstances has been encouraging and its effects have
been manifested in society.”
Accurate data
The ICT minister also said that he has held meetings with senior
officials to directly convey the issues of digital economy stakeholders.
“Under current conditions, a coherent presentation based on
accurate statistics of the problems and damages to digital businesses is of
particular importance. Documented correspondence can be effective in
decision-making,” he said.
Stressing the role of digital economy stakeholders to maintain
the ministry’s support, he added, “There should be no interruption in the
pursuit of demands. Continuing to report the problems helps facilitate
decision-making processes.”
Government support
Hashemi also stressed government’s support of digital
businesses, saying, “This issue has been raised with the president and the minister
of economic affairs and finance and has been welcomed. Efforts are being made
to provide support in line with the government's existing resources.”
“The government's approach is to provide integrated support
and to avoid isolated measures so that the limited resources can be allocated
optimally,” he said.
Empathy in digital ecosystem
The ICT minster acknowledged psychological and social harms
among a number of digital economy stakeholders.
“Reports of severe pressure on some investors and upsetting
decisions have been received, which doubles the need to strengthen human and
professional connections in this ecosystem.”
He emphasized the need to increase empathy among businesses
in the current situation, and said, “We must move beyond the usual competition towards
greater synergy and cooperation. Trade unions play a key role in this regard.”
Infrastructure support
Referring to the measures adopted in the infrastructure sector,
Hashemi said that efforts have been made to provide processing and storage
services to businesses where needed with the assistance from other
institutions.
“What is important is solving of problems, and not
attributing actions to a specific institution,” the minister stressed.
The ICT minister also expressed his regret over unwanted communications
restrictions as a result of the US-Israeli imposed war.
He praised the resilience of the country’s younger generation
and said, “The resistance against the military aggressors is remarkable and
honorable. It is hoped that the war will end upholding the country's dignity, and
the ground will be provided for the formation of new opportunities."
Hashemi concluded emphasizing, "Interaction with digital
economy stakeholders will continue and the ICT Ministry will maintain its
support in this area.”
