China’s second World Internet Conference was held in presence of Heads of States, and Communication and Information Technology Ministers, with emphasizing on the five key areas on its’ agenda.
According to the Ministry’s Public Relation, the 2nd World Internet Conference was held in China’s Wuzhen city, attended by Heads of States and Communication Ministers. Dr. Mahmoud Vaezi was already in China to participate in Shanghai Cooperation Organization’s Heads of Governments (Prime Ministers) Council as the representative of the I.R. of Iran, and by the conclusion of the Shanghai Forum, he also attended the World Internet Conference. The conference was opened by the words of the President of the People’s Republic of China, and the following topics were highlighted in particular:
1. Speed up the development and expansion of Internet, create innovation opportunities, cooperate in regard to technology and internet applications, increase research in the field of cloud computing, Big Data, and internet of things, reduce digital gap and develop internet network, also realization of new and extensive usages and applications throughout the world especially in developing and less-developed countries.
2. Extensive utilization of internet technologies in various areas in consideration of the convergence of internet and other industrial sectors, the necessity of facilitating and safeguarding free and systematic data exchange, accelerating the establishment of global digital market, and creating job opportunities in an extensive manner within the framework of UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
3. Emphasizing the importance of safekeeping mankind’s cultural heritage, by utilizing digital tools, promoting cultural exchange in virtual environment while respecting cultural diversity and variety, with an outlook to virtual space as a common and mutual cultural environment for the human race.
4. Stressing on the importance of respecting the sovereignty of nations in the virtual space, and the necessity of safeguarding information infrastructures against threats, attacks, and sabotage; respecting individual privacy and copy right issues, and the necessity of confronting cyber-crimes and cyber-terrorism through collective participation.
5. The need for participation of the international community through mutual trust and common interests for establishing international principles and regulations to safeguard and respect principal user rights and privileges in the internet, to refrain from occurrence of chaos in virtual space, with the objective of establishing an open and transparent virtual environment through clear and democratic international internet governance by shaping a society of common destiny in the virtual space.
Also, attention was paid to the topic that the future of the world belongs to young generation, a generation which is shaped by internet development; this will happen by paying attention to the special needs of the young generation in the internet, and making efforts to make internet a healthy, civilized, clean environment for brighter future for the entire world.
Among the participants of this international conference, as well as the Chinese President, were the President of Pakistan, and ministers and vice-ministers from Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Tajikistan, and more than 40 communication ministers from around the globe.
