The negotiations of Iran-Afghanistan communication and bilateral collaborations committees came to a successful conclusion by signing a cooperation agreement in presence of the Minister of communication and Information Technology.
According to ICT’s PR department, the cooperation agreement between I.R. of Iran and Afghanistan was signed in presence of the Iranian ICT Minister and the Afghan Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, being the outcome of five committees in communication sector.
Dr. Vaezi, the ICT Minister, elaborated on this cooperation during the signing ceremony of Iran-Afghanistan cooperation agreement by stating that: “Our numerous meeting sessions with the Afghan delegation were positive and constructive, and during the final meeting, various important subjects were raised and discussed, which finally resulted in signing of three cooperation agreements in the communication sectors of both countries.”
In continuation, Dr. Vaezi referred to the positive cooperation between the two countries, and the considerable presence of Afghan guests in Iran, expressing that: “A great volume of our external traffic is with Afghanistan and through further negotiations, we shall act to facilitate this communication for establishment of direct and quality connections, and with the lowering of the tariffs, of course.”
The Communication Minister recalled the visit of the Afghan Minister to the city of Yazd, stating that: “On this trip, the Afghan delegation had a successful presence, and managed to negotiate with numerous companies and universities active in the fields of IT and ICT.”
Dr. Vaezi also emphasized that: “During these couple of days we tried to provide suitable programs for various collaborations in the fields of Post, Post-Bank, infrastructure, and regulatory services with Afghanistan and the Afghan delegation.”
He also included that: “In regard to the existing frequency interference in the borders of the two countries, we had discussions and information exchange and it was decided that we should quickly address the existing communication problems in the border regions of our two countries.”
The ICT Minister underscored that: “We are confident that the relations in the communication sector will grow and prosper like the political relations.”
At the conclusion of the meeting, Abdul Razaq Vahidi, the Afghan Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, stated that: “The speed and pace of communication has a major role to play in development of the countries; and countries should define their interests in participation with their neighbor countries in order to achieve their proper role and position.”
He included that: “This cooperation document is a starting point for Iran-Afghanistan relations, and future generations will later on speak fondly of this trip.”
The Afghan Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology concluded that: “This document is a panorama of the 5 year cooperation plan between the two countries, where many programs have been mentioned concerning the communication sector; and this document is witness to the potentials of the two countries in communication sector which will also result in strengthening of the region.”
