Abdul Razaq Vahidi, the Afghan Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, officially invited by Dr. Vaezi for an official visit to Iran, commended Iran’s support in international associations, saying that: “The general policy of the National Unity Government of Afghanistan is increasing regional and international cooperation levels; and Iran enjoys a special position because of its long history in this regard.”
According to Communication Ministry’s Public Relation Center, Abdul Razaq Vahidi referred to the establishment of the five workgroups for studying cooperation opportunities, saying: “The workgroups of both parties have been working on various topics in the meantime, and the eventually the cooperation document will be finalized and signed.”
He highlighted the policies of the National Unity Government of Afghanistan for establishing regional and international communications, emphasizing that: “Iran and Afghanistan have strong ties going back thousands of years, and they have to compile precise plans and policies in ICT sector and digital communications, preparing for thousand year programs.”
He also reported of mutual agreements in topics of common interest, especially coordination and exchanging experiences at the level of global associations, expressing that: “Afghanistan’s strategic position provides Iran with communication opportunity with china and mid-Asia; and on the other hand, Afghanistan can connect to Turkey, the Caucasus region, and the Persian Gulf, via Iran.”
Praising Iran’s support and help, Vahidi expressed that: “We hope that we can benefit from Iran’s potentials in rebuilding Afghanistan.”
