Dr. Vaezi Meets Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation
Dr. Vaezi, the Iranian ICT Minister, stated in his meeting with Dmitry Rogozin, the Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation, that: “Holding the sessions of the Joint Economic Commission has resulted in more cooperation and interaction between the majority of the organizations and ministries of both countries.”

 According to ICT’s Public Relation, in this meeting, Dr. Vaezi stated: “It’s been almost three decades that I have been involved in Iran-Russian relations; and I don’t remember an instance where our relations have been so much intertwined and growing to such an extent.”

Expressing his thanks to the high-ranking officials of Russian Federation for their positive interaction and counsel at the P5+1 negotiations: “The most major concern and crisis in the region is the issue of radicalism and barbaric behavior of ISIS in the Middle-East and Europe.”

Vaezi added that: “Fortunately, Iran and Russia became aware of the ISIS threat long ago; and the common stance, interaction, and cooperation they have shown in regard to Syria, is a the perfect example of this relationship which has been vastly effective in bringing peace and stability to the region.”

Referring to the expansion of relations between Iran and Russia from political, security, cultural, and economic aspects, he included that: “Just last week we had the new sessions of the Iran-Russia Joint Economic Commission held in Moscow and from the viewpoint of the I.R. of Iran, this commission is the highest authority which decides the economic and cultural relations of Iran and Russia.”

The ICT Minister asserted that: “In our two day visit to Moscow, and the subsequent negotiations with the 60-member delegation, we studied various aspects of our cooperation and fortunately we both enjoyed a very positive atmosphere and understanding during our talks between the two parties.”

He described the three levels of cooperation with the Russian federation, adding that: “We have devised a one year cooperation, as the Joint Iran-Russia Economic Commission, a mid-term 4-5 year cooperation, and a strategic long-term cooperation for the next 20 years ahead for our bilateral relations.”

The Communication Minister expressed that: “We have to prepare and plan in such a manner that Mr. Putin’s visit to Tehran becomes the opening of a whole new chapter in our bilateral relations.”

Dr. Vaezi emphasized that: “Holding the sessions of the Joint Economic Commission has resulted in more cooperation and interaction between most organizations and ministries of both nations.”

Referring to the agreement of the $5 Billion Line of Credit, Vaezi added that: “We have also come to an agreement regarding a €2 Billion Line of Credit.”

He went on to say: “Russia’s market is a huge market for Non-Oil Exports and there are about 19 product groups which previously we had difficulty in exporting them to Russia but now, with the lowering of the tariffs, there are no more obstacles facing them.”

Vaezi referred to $30 Billion worth of projects and said: “We hope that within 4 to 5 years, these projects will become fully operational in the fields of railway, agriculture, power, transportation, water and petrochemicals.”

He also highlighted Iran and Russia’s cooperation in regard to building and launching satellites, saying: “With the further development of relations, we are also going to cooperate with each other in regard to telecommunication and distant measurement satellites.”
