ICT Minister hails development of indigenous Nahid 2 satellite
Iran’s Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi welcomed the building of indigenous Nahid 2 satellite and its launch into orbit on Friday saying it is a successful step toward development of telecommunications services.

“It will support communications in rural and deprived areas laying the ground for the construction of indigenous satellite systems,” he added.

“This satellite is Iran's first telecommunications satellite in the K band, developed for the purpose of expansion of telecommunications services.”

The Nahid 2 satellite was launched into space and placed in the targeted orbit using the Soyuz satellite carrier from the Russian Vostochny Space Center.

Its first telemetry data was received at the Iranian Space Agency’s ground station, and the performance of its systems was confirmed.

Nahid 2 was designed and built by the Iranian Space Agency and Iranian Space Research Center.

The ICT minister also said, Nahid 2 is a platform for the development of the country's future satellite systems.

"The success of this mission will pave the way for the design and production of similar satellites, which will enable the formation of a system of satellites in the form of a platform,” said Heshemi.
