Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has stressed expansion of cooperation with Japan in the field of information technology and the scientific and technological exchanges.
In a meeting with Ambassador of Japan
in Tehran Tamaki Tsukada on Tuesday, Hashemi elaborated on Iran’s extensive
capacities in scientific and technological fields and called for cooperation in
the field of new technologies, especially artificial intelligence, knowledge
transfer, and training of specialized human resources.
He referred to the history of
scientific and research cooperation between Iran and Japan, including in the
establishment of the Iranian Telecommunications Research Center (currently the ICT
Research Institute), and stressed expansion of interactions in knowledge-based
fields.
"Knowledge transfer in the field
of communications and information technology and training of specialized human
resources can be one of the main items of cooperation between Iran and Japan,”
he added, “We are ready to share our scientific capacities in this field and
use Japan's successful experience."
The Japanese ambassador expressed his
satisfaction with Iran's scientific and technological advances, and the long
history of relations between the two countries, and said: "Iran has important
capacities in this field.”
Tamaki Tsukada said he would convey
the points raised in the meeting to the Japanese government and expressed the hope
for strengthening bilateral relations during his mission in Iran.
The development of communications
infrastructure, the expansion of new technologies such as artificial intelligence
and the Internet of things, the exchange of experiences in the field of digital
policymaking, and joint research cooperation were the topics discussed in the
meeting.
Both sides also emphasized the need
to build connections between universities and research centers of
Iran and Japan.
