Iran’s Minister of Information and Communications Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Tehran Cong Peiwu emphasized the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of communications, information technology, digital economy, communication infrastructure, and the development of artificial intelligence.
Hashemi referred to the civilizational and historical
background of Iran and China and their long-standing history of cooperation
since the Silk Road era, and emphasized the necessity of maximum use of joint
capacities to achieve the goals of strategic development of relations between
the two countries.
He referred to the past agreements between the two
countries, especially in the field of information and communications technology,
and announced the serious determination of the Islamic Republic of Iran to implement
these agreements including the joint cooperation document signed between the
ministries of communications of Iran and China.
Hashemi said his upcoming official visit to China is an opportunity
to pursue joint programs and added, “Cooperation in areas such as artificial
intelligence, processing infrastructure, space systems and data transit will be
among the main priorities of my meetings in China.”
The two countries, the minister said, have significant
capacities that can be the basis for joint projects especially in the field of
artificial intelligence.
Ambassador Cong Peiwu referred to the vast capacity of
Iran-China relations and expressed satisfaction with Iran's progress in the
field of information and communications technology.
He stressed the continuation and expansion of bilateral
cooperation despite external challenges and pressures.
The Chinese envoy also termed the development of cooperation
in new areas, including artificial intelligence, a necessity for the future and
welcomed the visit of the Iranian ICT minister to China.
