The Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi on Wednesday embarked on his fourth provincial trip to inaugurate communication projects and meet local officials and people during the visit to the northern Mazandaran Province.
Prior to the visit which officially started on Thursday, deputies of the ICT minister traveled to the province to hold meetings with local officials and study implementation of the telecommunication projects.
The visit to Caspian Sea province of Mazandaran is Hashemi's fourth provincial tour as the ICT minister.
He is also scheduled to meet the businessmen and knowledge-based companies in the field of information and communication technology.
The provincial visits by government officials in Iran have been in practice as means of face-to-face meeting with the people and to hear their voices.
In 2025, Hashemi traveled to the Kohgiluyeh and Boyerahmad Province and Qazvin province In August 2024, he paid his first provincial visit to the holy city of Mashhad, capital of the Razavi Khorasan Province last November, after he was approved as the ICT minister in August 2024 by the Iranian parliament.
During election campaigning and in public meetings, President Masoud Pezeshkian who took office last year promised to lift Internet curbs and the ICT Ministry pursued to implement the president's promise.
In the first step to ease Internet restriction, he fulfilled his promise by lifting filtering of WhatsApp messaging service and Google Play digital distribution service last December.
