ICT minister felicitates Iranian colleagues, foreign counterparts on Nowruz
Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi congratulated advent of spring season which marks start of the Iranian New Year with Nowruz festivities.
“I would like to felicitate the start of spring and Nowruz to my colleagues in the ICT Ministry and hope them the best in the coming year. It is a blessing the New Year has coincided the holy month of Ramadhan,” he wrote in a message on Tuesday.
Hashemi also offered his congratulations to counterparts in the countries where Nowruz is commemorated.
“I wish my counterparts in the countries where Nowruz is observed, prosperity, development and welfare and look forward to working with them in the year to come,” the message read.
Nowruz, literally meaning new day in Persian language, is a festival based on the Northern Hemisphere spring equinox, which marks the first day of a new year on the Iranian calendar. It usually coincides 21 March on the Gregorian calendar.
Besides Iran, peoples in Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Iraqi Kurdistan, Kurd majority provinces in Turkey, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and a number of other countries mark Nowruz.
