The Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar urged the private sector and businessmen to increase their presence in the field digital economy by participation at the transparent projects.
He made the remarks on Tuesday in a joint meeting with
President Masoud Pezeshkian in which the ways of facilitating operation of digital
economy were discussed.
Hashemi criticized what he termed the "excessive thirst
for document production," saying, "This thirst is destroying the businesses
that can provide the basis for the country to achieve 8 percent growth.”
President Pezeshkian visited the ICT Ministry for the second
time in two months to meet digital economy activists in an intimate
meeting to listen to their concerns and views.
"The President's presence among private sector
activists is very encouraging," the minister said.
He said the competition between public sector regulators and
the private sector is one of the main problems and obstacles in the ICT field.
He referred to the importance of productivity growth to
achieve the 8 percent growth target and added: “The activists present at this
meeting are experts in making various industries more productive, and they are
doing this excellently, but they are facing obstacles.”
Hashemi expressed hope that with the contribution of private
sector activists, an important part of the challenges in the field of digital
economy will be resolved.
A number of private sector activists at the meeting expressed
their views and addressed points such as using information technology to
address imbalances, the diversity of regulators, unpredictability of
conditions, the necessity of trusting the private sector, the importance of
participating in regional and international AI associations, and the multiple
AI sponsors in the country.
They presented their suggestions and solutions for
addressing obstacles and problems in this sector.
In the meeting, President Pezeshkian emphasized the
government's measures to coordinate stability in decision-making, as well as
providing the energy needed by technological and digital companies as two
serious demands of activists in this field.
“The presence and role of representatives of digital economy
in decision-making centers is very effective. It is also imperative that
representatives of legislative departments in this field be present in seminars
and conferences held in the field of digital economy so that the demands and
concerns of digital economy activists are taken into account.”
Referring to the government's plans to use the capacities of
the ICT Ministry to address imbalances, he stated: "You as startup
companies can play a role in eliminating the roots of corruption and
discrimination and creating transparency in the administration of the country's
affairs by helping the government in the data management sector."
