The Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi has called for the expansion of relations with Saudi Arabia in all areas notably in the field of ICT.
In a
meeting with the Saudi Ambassador in Tehran Abdullah bin Saud Al-Anzi, he
referred to the areas of cooperation with Riyadh and stressed the role of
information and communication technology in the advancement of bilateral ties.
“Cooperation
in the field of data transit from Iran to Saudi Arabia and from Saudi Arabia to
Africa, as well as data transit from Saudi Arabia to Iran and then to
Afghanistan and Central Asia, China and the Caucasus region is the most
important issue that can be put on the agenda,” Hashemi said.
Development
of communication infrastructure, cyber security and platform security, and
e-government, the minister added, are other fields in which Iran and Saudi
Arabia can cooperate.
He expressed
Iran’s readiness for transfer of scientific and technical experience as well as
exchange of delegations and experts from the two countries in the field of information
and communication technology.
The
Saudi envoy also emphasized importance of improved relations between Riyadh and
Tehran and bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Abdullah
bin Saud Al-Anzi said the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is ready to expand ties with the
Islamic Republic of Iran.
