The Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi on Monday urged the Indonesian government to speed up arrangements for early convention of the bilateral joint commission.
In a meeting with Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia in
Tehran Ronny Prasetyo Yuliantoro , he congratulated the new cabinet in Jakarta and expressed the
hope that relations between Iran and Indonesia will further improve.
The numerous cooperation
documents which were signed and exchanged during the visit to Indonesia by former
President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi point to the measures adopted by the ICT
Ministry to pursue the issues related to the bilateral commission, said Hashemi
who is the Iranian co-chairman of the commission.
He said the Ministry of
Information and Communication Technology has been following up ratification of the preferential trade agreement between Iran and
Indonesia as well as the reviewing of the bilateral customs agreement in the
Iranian parliament.
"With such a level of
relations and interactions between Iran and Indonesia, the implementation of
the agreements needs to be accelerated.”
The minister cited a number of achievements
by the Iranian ICT Ministry in the fields of content production, e-commerce, and
smart energy management saying, ”These are rife areas for sharing experience
with Indonesia and can lead to technology transfer.”
Jakarta has an influential
capacity in the ASEAN, the minister added, and Tehran expects further
cooperation with the Southeast Asian country.
He referred to e-banking as an
appropriate field for cooperation between the two countries. "These
services are provided in our country as well as in the BRICS member states. We
hope to develop them on a mutual interaction basis."
The Indonesian ambassador referred
to the vast bilateral cooperation capacities and welcomed using Iran’s experience
in the fields of communications, and cyber security and platforms.
Yuliantoro also suggested contacts
between research and educational centers of the two countries.
He said changes in the government
in Indonesia were the reason for not holding of the meeting of the joint
commission with Iran.
The new government in Jakarta
intends to increase cooperation with Tehran, the Indonesian envoy added.
