The Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology Seyed Sattar Hashemi and the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Tehran Kim Junpyo in a meeting on Monday discussed cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence, smart government and optical fiber.
Hashemi referred to the existing agreements
in the field of communication between Tehran and Seoul and called for continued
bilateral cooperation by adopting due practical measures.
“Considering South Korea’s experience
in the optical fiber projects, we would like to use such experience in the development
of Iran’s optical fiber,” he said.
The 5G support of Samsung Galaxy S25 mobile
phones has started in Iran, Hashemi said urging Seoul’s envoy to Tehran to
follow up 5G support for predecessors of S25 series.
The Iranian ICT minister added artificial
intelligence is an appropriate area for active cooperation with South Korea and
said the Far East nation’s monitoring of the cyberspace for child protection was
an area to share experience.
Kim said there is a vast potential of
cooperation before Iran and South Korea and expressed the hope that Tehran and
Seoul can share their experience in the field of E-government and smart
government.
The ambassador said South Korea ranked
sixth or seventh in the Global AI Index and welcomed extensive cooperation with
Iran in this field.
He referred to the training of ICT experts
in South Korea and said it can be an area of bilateral cooperation with Iran.
