Health Minister Attending E-Health Services Workgroup Session:
The Minister of Health and Medical Education stated in the sideline of the e-Health Services Workgroup session, that: “Achieving healthcare in our country is not feasible without access to IT services.”

According to ICT’s Public Relation, Dr. Hashemi attended the session of e-health services workgroup this morning, held in the High Council of IT’s secretariat, and spoke with reporters on the sideline, saying: “Health services are of those type of public facility which involve everyone in the nation; also in the management sector, the subject of health services provision is one of the economic sectors in our country.”

Stating that we have good infrastructures in this sector, he added: “Unfortunately, because of discoordination among responsible organizations, our overall service quality has been damaged.”

Hashemi thanked the High Council of IT and the official order of the President, and included: “Naturally, decisions in this workgroup are in the design stage, and what our people will feel in service provision will actually start to happen by the end of the year; but the effects and outcomes of these sessions will become operational sooner in economic sectors.”

The Health Minister expressed that: “Coordination have been made for improving services which will result in more precise controls in insurance sector, medical expense payment and receipt of medical bills, plus better supervision in drug and medical equipment sector.”

Hashemi emphasized that: “Through establishment of e-Health services, we will have new definitions for service-recipients in the future, to reduce the need for unnecessary commuting and to increase access to required services with less difficulty and concern.”

Addressing the subject of corruption in medical provision and promoting paperless services, he said: “Fortunately good efforts have been made in this direction, but since the subject itself is of great significance, they are not enough. Especially in the medicine and the medical equipment sector, the e-Health Services workgroup has assigned committees to plan and devise the whole structure of IT in this sector and present reports of their activities within a one month period.”

Hashemi commented regarding the elimination of paper insurance booklets, saying: “The paper has to go, yet the end result and form depends on the opinions of the related experts; but this is not going to take long and it will to be finalized within the next few months.”
