Dr. Mohammad Shariatmadari, the Iranian Vice President for Executive Affairs, while emphasizing the experience of other countries in retaining the authoritative tasks and governing duties of Post companies and handing other affairs to the private sector, expressed his gratitude for the efforts of the hardworking management and personnel of the Post Company of Iran.
According to the ICT’s Public Relation department, Dr. Shariatmadari stated in response to the Post Company’s operational report, that: “Without any doubt, serving the public is one of the most important ideals and a cause for glory of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s order; and among these, the Iranian Post Company, as one of the most major public-serving entities in charge of providing services to a huge spectrum of Iranian people, has an extremely great role to play.”
He continued that: “The postal network of Iran has played a major role in increasing social welfare and national productivity, reducing urban traffic loads, and protecting the environment; and because of its wealth of human capital and logistic resources, the Post Co. has become a source of commonweal and provision of outstanding services to our dear countrymen. The developments of the past two years, in the ‘government of wisdom and hope’, have brought changes to the viewpoints of the managers and personnel of the Iranian Post Company, resulting in redefining the structure and the missions of this company, based on the above mentioned developments.”
Shariatmadari further emphasized on considering the development of cooperation and interaction with the private sector, and utilizing the capabilities and expertise of the people active in this sector, such as service-counter offices in non-governing issues, outsourcing, and IT based services on behalf of other entities and organizations, and as a service portal and trusted medium for the government and the people, saying that: “Just like developed countries, the Postal Service can be highly effective in reducing traffic, wholesomeness of the administrative environment, and increasing national productivity.”
The Vice President for Executive Affairs continued: “The correct approach was quite evident, based on the existing experience in other countries, that signified the retaining of governance tasks of the postal companies and the hand-over of other less critical duties to the private sector; therefore, the required changes were applied to the statute of the company and it was decided that the Iranian Post Company will remain as a part of the government with the goal of serving the less-privileged regions of the country and continue to be at the service of the good people of the I.R. of Iran.
At the end of his address, Dr. Shariatmadari expressed appreciation and commendation for the endeavours of the chairman of the board of directors of Post Company and its hardworking staff.
