According to ICT Ministry’s PR department, a group of university professors including Dr. Hadi Shahriar Shahhoseini, Director of Industrial and Scientific Cooperation of Iran University of Science and Technology, Dr. Ali Moeini, University of Tehran, Dr. Gholamali Montazer, Tarbiat Modares University, Dr. Younes Shokrkhah, Tehran University, Dr. Madjid Naderi,  Iran University of Science and Technology, Dr. Hossein Gharibi, Islamic Azad University, and Dr. Mohammad Khansari, University of Tehran, presented their articles in ‘E-science and Research in the Information Society: Key Factors for Sustainable Development’ workshop session.

According to WSIS+10 vision, e-science revolutionizes science by changing: the way in which research is conducted; how the scientific agenda is defined; who participates in it; how the results and data are shared; the pace at which policymakers, scientists and individuals access knowledge; and who participates in the policy follow up of research outcomes.

To this end, Research Center for ICT Strategic and International Studies of Iran University of Science and Technology, directed by Dr. Hadi Shahriar Shahhoseini, undertook the designing of ‘E-Science-Net’ project as an inter-academic research network for development and growth of science and technology in information society, aimed at implementation of established objectives of WSIS Declaration of Principles, and completion of WSIS Plan of Action in the field of e-science.

During the ‘E-science and Research in the Information Society: Key Factors for Sustainable Development’ workshop session, Dr. Shahhoseini introduced the ‘E-Science-Net’ project, designed by the FAVA Strategic and International Studies Center of Iran University of Science and Technology, and expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation shown by Ministry of Science, Research and Technology, Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, and the Science and Technology Vice-Presidency.

The aim of this project is to make a network of researchers, scientists, university professors and students by supporting an exchange and sharing of ideas and scientific data among them; it tries to conduct some expert surveys on e-science and the role of research, science and technology in sustainable development of the information and knowledge societies. The outcomes, which will be published and/or presented in thematic workshops, can be used in developing the national roadmap for e-science.

Some of the main objectives and the expected outcomes of the project are:
