WSIS 2015 Prize for FAVA Strategic and International Studies Center
The ‘Research Center for ICT Strategic and International Studies’ of Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) received the WSIS 2015 Award from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

According to the Public Relation and Information Center of the ICT Ministry, the related letter of commendation, signed by the ITU Secretary-General, Mr. Houlin Zhao, was awarded to Iran for outstanding participation in regard to implementation and consolidation of WSIS Forum’s outcomes.

IUST Research Center for ICT Strategic and International Studies receives this award for its contribution to category seven of WSIS projects (C7. ICT Applications: e-government) in form of a project named “E-Science-Net: Universities and Research Network for Science and Technology Development in the Information Society”.

The winners of WSIS Forum 2015 receive a commendation letter and a special WSIS Projects statuette. The awards are presented to the 18 winners of the 2015 at the end of the forum’s opening ceremony, delivered in person by Mr. Houlin Zhao.

The recipient of this C7 - E-science project award was Dr. Hadi Shahriar Shahhsoeini (IUST).

Dr. Shahhoseini is the Secretary of the National Committee for Information Society, Director of International and Scientific Cooperation for IUST and Director of the IUST Research Center for ICT Strategic and International Studies (ICT-SIS).

Dr. Mahmoud Vaezi, the Iranian Minister of Information and Communication Technology, was also present at the awards ceremony of WSIS Forum 2015.

The WSIS Forum (The World Summit on the Information Society), is co-organized by ITU, UNESCO, UNDP and UNCTAD, and in close collaboration with all WSIS Action Line Facilitators/Co-Facilitators (UNDESA, FAO, UNEP, WHO, UN Women, WIPO, WFP, ILO, WMO, UN, ITC, UPU, UNODC, UNICEF and UN Regional Commissions).
