ICT Minister Inaugurates Communication Projects in Kermanshah
37 telecommunication projects were inaugurated in presence of Dr. Vaezi, the Minister of ICT, with a total credit of 200 Million Rials.

The actual ceremony was held simultaneously in various cities of Kermanshah Province through videoconferencing, and in presence of the governor and other provincial officials, on Friday the 8th.

Emphasizing the development of 3G and 4G mobile networking in Iran, the Minister expressed that: “At the moment, 218 cities are under the coverage of 3G network and 50 cities are covered by 4G.”

Mentioning government plans for expansion of Internet and the broadband network, he said: “One measure of development is the accessibility of latest technologies for the general public, which is going to be pursued more extensively this year, especially in rural areas.”

Dr. Vaezi stressed that: “Today the government insists that the ICT sector should not only concentrate on Tehran as the Capital, but rather be focusing on every corner of the country.”

Pointing out government’s determination in paying more attention to the private sector, he welcomed its’ participation in telecommunication projects and the ICT arena, saying that: “Nowadays, in developed countries, it is actually the private sector that is in charge of running various things, and the government supports it in a coordinator’s role.”

During the ceremony, the Minister also referred to worthy activities done in Kermanshah province in the communication and information technology sector, saying: “Fortunately, the arrangements for virtual environment of this province are well under way.”

He also underscored the role and importance of Kermanshah province in the western region of Iran, and said: “If Kermanshah becomes strengthened and developed, neighboring provinces can also benefit from this growth and development.”

He further stressed that: “Therefore, with the help and support of top officials in the province, Kermanshah’s infrastructure is going to be further developed for its’ total transformation into a virtual province.”

In another part of his address, the Minister cited the inauguration and startup of 37 telecommunication projects in Kermanshah province, and said: “These projects are going to produce 240 international channels and 107 km of optic fiber cable between Kermanshah and the city of Kangavar.”

Stating that Kermanshah is enjoying a better 3G & 4G mobile network coverage compared to other provinces, he added that currently 12 provincial towns are benefitting from 3G coverage, and expressed his hopefulness that in a very near future, especially during the “Government Appreciation Week” and the blessed “Ten-Days of Fajr (Dawn)” celebrations, we shall witness the inauguration of more telecommunication projects in the province.

Before inaugurating these projects, the ICT Minister participated in the ground-breaking ceremony for construction of the “Data and ICT Complex” of the province, located at the “Shahid Kaviyani Terminal” and expressed his hopefulness that within a two year period, the complex will be completed, and it will commence its operations.
