Minister of ICT meets with representatives of Lithuania and Gabon in WSIS
To develop diplomacy of information technology, the Minister of ICT met with representatives of Lithuania, Gabon, Nigeria, and South Africa.
On the third day of his visit to Geneva, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Issa Zarepour met with representatives of various countries, according to the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
During the first bilateral meeting, the Minister of ICT met with the Lithuanian Deputy Minister of Digital Economy at the request of Lithuania (EU Coordinator at the WTTC Summit) talking about Smart Cities, Cyber Security, and Digital Economy.
In this meeting, which was also attended by Khansari, the head of the Information Technology Organization of Iran, they exchanged views on the development of bilateral relations, capacities for cooperation, and the holding of a joint working group.
During the meeting, Lithuania introduced its candidate for Deputy Secretary-General of the ITU. Iran also demanded Lithuania's mutual support for Iran's candidacy for the ITU Council.
ICT diplomacy with Africa has begun.
Meeting with the representative of Gabon is another part of the third day of the visit of the Minister of ICT. Gabon is located in central Africa and is the second-largest economy in the region.
This country is marching towards the digitalization of its economy, and in particular, the digitalization of the agricultural industry is on its agenda.
During the meeting, Gabon was asked to support Iran's candidacy for the ITU, and it was decided to further develop relations between the two countries. The Gabonese minister showed interest in traveling to Iran and was welcomed by the Iranian side.
With another meeting with South Africa today by Khansari, head of the Information Technology Organization of Iran, ICT diplomacy with the three countries of Nigeria in the northwest, Gabon in the center, and South Africa in the south took place. Therefore, it can be said that ICT diplomacy has started with Africa, which will provide good opportunities for the sector, especially for the development of Iran's space market and ICT.
