According to the Public Relations and Information Center of the Ministry of ICT, Issa Zarepour, Minister of ICT, thanked the Nigerian President of WSIS, expressed that Iran has a 150-year history of membership in the ITU, and said: "Iran has always played a key role during these years and emphasizes multilateralism at the international level.
In this speech, he referred to Iran's achievements in recent years and gave a brief description of the plans in the field of communications in the next three years and the prospects of the ICT industry.
Zarehpour added: "The problem in the world is that the main platforms at the international level are one-sided and ignore the rights of nations, which is against human rights standards, and the right to social and cultural development."
"Sanctions have harmed the development of ICT in the world, and a global solution must be found," he said, referring to sanctions. He also stressed the WSIS 'focus on the Tunisian Action Plan and the importance of cyber governance in it.
Zarehpour suggested that international platforms be accountable to governments so that they can pursue their citizens' rights on those platforms.

Zarehpour pointed out: that for the development of the digital economy, it is necessary to provide the ground for a fair competition between global platforms and local platforms by countries.
He added: "It is suggested that in the era of globalization in the field of governance and cyber security, the cultural requirements of countries should be observed." Therefore, different nations of the world, especially the nations of a region that have a common history, ecology, and language, should have a more prominent presence in the management of cyberspace by creating regional institutions.
